VERSE ONE:
As we start aging,
some of us start looking back and think amazing
things used to happen all the time, and it's flagrant,
searching for the moments of Life
that be shoving out a thought that's black.
The peaks of time are always on the mind. Sometimes
music will combine with an incorrect belief
that everything was fine. The truth of that shit, y'all,
is what used to undermine gets shoved to the back
and all that remains is a vision of prosperity.
But concepts of "old school" and "back in the day"
exist for a reason. No memory of who you used to be,
means you lack any identity today.
This stops me from rocking gear like a teenager,
or back on gear I rocked when I was a teenager,
before I had status and got paid ta
rock mics. Past life hype's a guide to strive for later.
CHORUS:
[Nostalgia] I want original media,
but I know it's just easier feeding us
[Nostalgia.] When the future looks really tough,
we find comfort in the past, so we're keeping up
[Nostalgia.] The past informs our belief in us,
helps navigate the Present - always needing some
[Nostalgia.]
VERSE TWO:
Some of us would rather forget our pasts altogether.
Or at least, retcon the shit out of 'em like regrettable
deals made with a devil-like demon named Mephisto.
But we can't bring back those we lost. That's a diss fo'
all the marvels in our life. We have to "get it right
all the time" is a thought in us all. Living like
that, is just amazing fantasy we cannot manage. Seems
the preferred way our brains take pain and tragedy
is turn ‘em into glorious thoughts of the past.
But it’s healthier to remember, some of it sucked ass.
It’s a catch - we outlast the time the pain lasts.
Free at last when we learn from mistakes. Named this task:
CHORUS:
[Nostalgia] I want original media,
but I know it's just easier feeding us
[Nostalgia.] When the future looks really tough,
we find comfort in the past, so we're keeping up
[Nostalgia.] The past informs our belief in us,
helps navigate the Present - always needing some
[Nostalgia.]
VERSE THREE:
What happens in your past, certainly shapes your future.
My love for art will last, if writers embrace some new stuff,
instead'a trying to cashin on childhoods, it's gruesome.!
just a lazy act for profit, I'm not removed from
'cause I do it too, when I jack records. Tact gets ya
lots more props, so I flip breaks ta to twist nature
into some shape that ya sorta can relate at a
microscopic level, never lose originality:
My coda. Pop soda saccharin clones can keep
popping off. I'm a chimera of epochs you
thought were long gone, plus future shock to dat ass.
A dash of "classic" with a pinch of "reminisce." Remember this?

I could listen to "Narc Hi Score" anytime, but "Warp Formula" is pure POWAH! You cannot stand still. Buy this album. It's a great variety of WB styles and themes; there's something here for everybody. cyko9
